EMDR
Processing an experience that still affects you.
What EMDR can do
A distressing experience can still influence how you feel and behave long after it happened. Think of fear, tension, recurring images, nightmares or strong emotional or physical reactions. EMDR can help reduce the emotional charge of such a memory.
How a session unfolds
We begin with a conversation about what is going on and which experience is central. You then hold the memory in mind while at the same time doing a distracting task, for example following my hand movements with your eyes. This stimulates your brain’s natural processing.
What can change
During the session we follow whatever comes up in your thoughts, feelings and body.
The memory does not have to disappear, but it can become less intense and less charged.
